Today the term ‘aerobic’ brings to mind the fat burning exercises associated with cardiovascular activities that require a person to do sustained activity at a 60-85% of their maximum heart rate. Aerobic workouts increase lung capacity, strengthen the heart muscle so it takes less energy to pump blood through the body, and improve overall endurance and health.
